Sitting at the table looking like hell Wondering if you’re around, if you could tell The graveyard landscape of my mind is foggy Since all I believed in is all broken I can’t even stand up yet I’ve spoken Peeping through these bloodshot eyes I’m fading ‘Cause if it’s true what they say about it If nothing is, then nothing should But I’m a stubborn wheel, so I’m just gonna keep it cool I’ll be leaving in the morning when it’s broken I can’t even crawl but I’m a-rollin’ Scraping these moss of memories I’m reeling Clocks are croaking, too afraid to sell Things I gotta tell you, might as well Gamble the last of my nine lives away ‘Cause if it’s true what they say about it If nothing was, then nothing could But I’m in the wrong time and wrong place Wrong Time, Wrong Place In the wrong time, wrong place Wrong time and face Brittle and bony as an empty shell Wondering what went on and if it went well Wondering what I did this time ‘round That made you feel this way Trash the TV, dream away The sky looks blue in dismay Roll another one for the road, ol’ faith is gone If I can’t do what you want then I’m just a failure But I’m nobody’s fool, so I’m just gonna take it cool In the wrong time, wrong place Wrong time and face

Emotionless Ones We are the emotionless ones Deadpan no expression I can't smile and I can't cry Nothing seems to get me high People on the bus and their attention boxes No need for conversation Emotions simmer, beneath their quiet exteriors Do soulless eyes stare back? From the mirror... Do soulless eyes stare back? From the mirror... Do soulless eyes stare back? Well I don't know what you may see Emotionless to you is not the same to me Well I don't know what you may see Emotionless to you is not the same to me Well I don't know what you may see Emotionless to you is not the same to me Well I don't know what you may see Emotionless to you is not the same to me Cause we laugh, and we cry Just like everybody else We hurt, and we pray To the various deities We just keep it to... Keep it to... Keep it to... Ourselves

Conditions Apply Maybe it’s not the smoking, maybe it’s the cigarettes that you smoke Maybe it’s not in the punch line, maybe it’s not a joke Maybe it’s not in a wicked grin, maybe it’s not a sin Maybe it don’t mean anything but something’s gotta give in Nothing to show for all that distance Nothing to prove right from the start Apologies for your insistence/indifference Wake me up when we get to the part where I sing… “You’ve been running so long, you forget what you were running from…” All these movies with continental four seasoned themes Don’t seem to mirror my monsoon fevered dreams Where there are no summers missed ‘cause it always is And it’s hard to find a decent public space to kiss Maybe him? Maybe her? Maybe them? Maybe me? Maybe everyone? Nobody? Something? Destiny? “You’ve been running so long, you forget what you were running from…”

Let's Get Low All over again, playing games... with my... fragile heart All over again, you play with the feelings... in my... foolish heart The words they wither, on your lips... You shouldn't speak cos the letters... they cut deep Your whore's perfume still ... clogs the air I hate it cos it fucking lingers... everywhere All over again, playing games... with my... fragile heart All over again, you play with the feelings... in my... foolish heart You killed me stabbed my twice Although it was I... Who held the knife These ceramic walls are my last reprieve Those cunning words no longer deceive Those cunning words no longer deceive Control escape from the memory of you From the memory of you... From the memory of you... All over again All over again All over again All over again All over again All over again All over again All over again All over again...
5.
There Is Nobody There is nobody…to pick you up when you fall There is nobody…to pick you up if you fall Nobody rings back after you’ve called They always catch you when things start to look up Not when you've just, just about to give up…give up…give up… Pull that smile on your face, everything’s in its right place The miles of tragedies out of you You’re the most evident given its true There is nobody…to pick you up when you fall There is nobody…to pick you up when you fall I’ll be leaving when you need me Even when I’m the one you needed most Well with what I earn will I be free Ofall my fears and your hopes That I’ve whispered to you If so….and so….and so There is nobody…there to hold your hand You wait in line too…you can’t even stand There is nobody…nobody
6.
In Between I am the man that time's forgotten I am the rolled poster boy For a disenchanted generation We're the forgotten generation An education's wasted If you can't think for yourself We all live in a state of grey, not pure white Our vision's a haze I see the old waiting to die I see the young being fed all those lies By the ghosts in white... Does a country rich? Mean we're happy? Does a high GDP? Make us happy? Cos I'm not happy I think we have time... To change our minds We should find time... To change our minds You can find time... To change your mind Yes we can find time... To change our mind Sleepless in black tenements... We, Run around with knives in our backs All thieves... No police...

about

The Pedra Branca EP is a collaborative effort between Malaysian folk punk singer-songwriter Azmyl (Azmyl Yunor and the Sigarettes, Ben's Bitches, The Maharajah Commission, Ciplak, Roarm) and Singaporean doom folk artist Hell Low.

Born out of several random yet fruitful meetings in Singapore and Malaysia, the EP was recorded, engineered and produced by acclaimed producer and musician Ronnie Khoo (Furniture, Ciplak) at his home studio (stickylight) between November 2013 and March 2014.

Also featured on the EP are Malaysian folk singer-songwriter Heymun and composer and Theremin player Ng Chor Guan.

The EP stands out a beacon for understanding of commonalities between the cross straits neighbors. Each song a carefully crafted tribute to love, loss and living in their respective countries. It also acknowledges the tensions that exist between borders as different yet similar cultures and ideals clash and coalesce. In the end it is an EP about hope. Hope for the future of both our countries as politics up north take on a distinctively non-secular slant and those down south move on from a one party system of governance.

* Pedra Branca is an outlying Singaporean island and also the easternmost point of Singapore that was a subject of a territorial dispute between Malaysia and Singapore that was finally settled by the International Court of Justice ruling in 2008.

AZMYL YUNOR

A former street musician, Azmyl Yunor is a pioneering Malaysian independent/underground artist who’s helped popularise the lo-fi folk, singer-songwriter, and noise rock genres in Malaysia through relentless gigging, collaborations, and a prolific recording output since 1997 (eight solo albums and three EPs – including the "Pedra Branca EP" split with Hell Low - to date). He is also known for his work with his touring band The Sigarettes and as a founding member of noise-rock band The Maharajah Commission, no wave band Ciplak, and punk band Ben’s Bitches. A wandering cult figure of sorts, he prefers to navigate along the outer margins of the music circuit and ply his trade on his own terms with a very distinctive singular vision and wit.

HELL LOW

Hell Low was once an angry young man. He is no longer young and the anger has been tempered into melancholia. He writes about living in the tiny red dot called Singapore. Hell Low is also the moniker for doom folk musician Jeremy Lee. He is now in the process of touring and recording the follow up to "The Pedra Branca EP"

about

The Pedra Branca EP

Azmyl Yunor and Hell Low met in December 2012 in a little alternative arts space, that has since closed, called The Pigeonhole. Hell Low (then known as the Constant Idealiste) was the opening act for Azmyl's stopover in Singapore.

Being both somewhat marginalized individuals due to the unpopular nature of the music they play, they naturally bonded over beers in SG and KL.
